The Georgia Southern Recreation Program is the only accredited program in the state, and has been continuously accredited since 1983. The recreation faculty bring a wealth of professional experience to the classroom and to the mentoring of students. Faculty members have held jobs as: outdoor adventure educator, commercial wilderness adventure guide/outfitter; certified recreational therapist, camp director, state park and historic site directors, environmental and cultural heritage educators or interpreters, and recreation program planner.
By choosing a recreation, tourism, or therapeutic recreation career, students are choosing a rewarding, exciting, and fun profession that provides life-changing experiences. We fuel the human spirit, build healthier bodies, help children grow into adults, provide enriching experiences for adults, bring families and communities together, care for the natural and cultural environment and provide the basis for the economic growth of communities.
